Book synopsis : part -2

Continuing with the second section of the book “The ruling concerning Mawlid an-Nabawi the celebration of Prophet’s birthday”. For first section see previous post.Section second deals with- Several reasons for prohibition and rejection:- 1. The celebration of Mawlid is neither from sunnah of Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.) nor his (s.a.w.) caliphs (pbut) and anything that is not from these, is a prohibited Bidah (innovation) as mentioned in a Hadith in Musnad Ahmad (4/126) and at-Tirmidhee 2676. Irrespective of your intention (may it be a good like achieving closeness to Allah), if a person performs such an act constitutes accusing the Messenger of not (correctly/completely) explaining the Deen to the people. Also belying the statement of Allah, “This day, I have perfected your religion for you.” (Maidah 5:3)
2. The celebration of mawlid is an imitation (tashbeeh) of the Christians in their celebrating the birthday of Prophet Eesa (a.s.) whereas imitating them specially in matters of their religion is strictly prohibited. The Prophet (s.a.w.) said, “Whoever imitates/resembles a people is one of them.” (Musnad Ahmad, Abu Dawood) “Be different from the Mushrikeen.” (saheeh Muslim)
3. A means of exaggeration in the honor of Allah’s Messenger to the extent that those who participate in this celebration call upon Prophet (s.a.w.), seek his help and chant poems of Shirk. The Prophet said, “Do not exaggerate in me, as the Christians exaggerated about the Son of Maryam. I am only a slave, so say the slave of Allah and Messenger of Allah.” (Saheeh al-Bukhari 4/142- 3445)
4. Opens the door to other innovations and diverts people towards it, like reminiscences of their scholar’s birthday and invoking decaesed. Will post next sections very soon insha’Allah. Article open for suggestions.

Book synopsis: part-1

Assalamualaikum folks.
Recently, i accidently stumbled upon a book, “The ruling concerning Mawlid an-Nabawi, the celebration of Prophet’s birthday” by Sh. Saleh ibn Fawzan ibn al-Fawzan, translated by Shawana A. Aziz. Although, i know the title has been a matter of debate from centuries and will remain so. But my intention here is to brief the book for those who are interested and i ask you to reflect on it open-mindedly.
The book is divided into four sections. And i will review them in four different posts. May Allah gives me intellect to do justice to the author’s phenomenal work.
First section was of introduction. The book starts with the mention of some of the ayahs of Qur’an and hadith which had one basic theme of ‘abiding by the Qur’an, adhering to the guidance of Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.) and rejection of innovations’. Sheikh goes on to write about the various ways in which it is celebrated, then there is a brief translator’s note.
Quoting from the book, ‘with all its various forms and intentions of those who celebrate it, commemoration of Mawlid of an-Nabawi is indisputably a prohibited innovation originated by the Fatimite Shi’ah after the three best generations in order to corrupt the deen of the Muslims.
The first one to encourage this celebration was King Muzaffar Abu Sa’eed Kaukobouri, the king of Ibril at the end of the 6th century or at the beginning of 7th century.’
This fact has been documented by historians like Ibn Katheer, Ibn Khalkan, Abu Shaamah, etc. Author quotes these scholars describing the different ways in which people used to celebrate it. It was coupled with music, dancing, gathering, decorating domes, nasheed recitals, singing, puppet shows, etc.
This was the brief history mentioned in the introduction, will post the next section soon insha’Allah.
Feel free to feedback.

In service of the Qur’an

In Mariful Qur’an, after completing the commentary of Surah al Isra, Mufti Shahi Usmani put in a personal note before continuing on to the next Surah. The note goes as following:
“while writing these lines, this humble servant of Allah has completed full 75 years of his age on 21 Sha’ban, 1390 Hijrah. Year 76 opens amidst diseases of different kinds including the natural weakness that sets in at this age. Then there is the mass of things to do and to resolve. Who can look forward to the task of writing beyond this point for it would be hoping against hope. But when it comes to the service of Qur’an, things become different. When someone does something in the name of the Qur’an, no matter how insignificant, it becomes for a servant of Allah a matter of good fortune and honour.
This thought led me to begin the tafsir of Surah al-kahf with the name of Allah. The idea was to take whatever it was possible to do during the years of life left, as sufficient and good enough because the purpose is not to finish the Qur’an, the purpose is to consume one’s years and energy into the Qur’an. And Allah is the giver of ability and helper of the effort made in His way.”
I recently came across this excerpt and thought it was worth sharing for many reasons. One amongst them is this note shows the love, the zeal and dedication for serving the Qur’an the scholar had.
Also, it provokes a thought that we need to follow the legacy these meritorious scholars have left behind us of serving the Speech of our Creator and the deen in general.
P.s.- in last post i was asked to be careful of typos and punctuation marks. I guess i have paid attention and did better this time. Feel free to feedback.

The plan

Assalamualaikum, i am posting the plan or the little effort i am gonna make. I am always open to suggestions be it critical or appreciative.
1. The priority fulfilling the rights of Prophet Muhammad (saw). as in now i used to remembe him only when i used to supplicate after my salah n send blessings on him and i usually make dua only in one salah or at the most two. secondly when i study seerah. thats poor i know. so the first change in the current lifestyle is to recite durood 100 times a day anyhow (its working masha’Allah).
2. Quran- i am learning tajweed and my teacher asks me to recite a minimum of two ruku daily (except thursday which is a holiday). so i practise the rules and recitation on my own and then with my teacher so i spend 45 mins with Quran daily apart from the time i give for learning tafsir. i am giving it this much as if for now although i know Quran deserves much more time and attention.
3. Parents- i am quite an obedient kid just a little moody. but the thought is to voluntarily help them or completely do one of their tasks and reduce their burden or to do something for them from my side. I know for both of them what they need my father is a treasurer in one of the local masjid community and he loves when we help them in accounting with those vouchers although its extremely difficult to work with him coz he is so proper and a freak of systemization but still i ll volunteer. but the idea for this week is different as he is diabetic i am going to make a diet chart for him (suggestions?)to follow inshaAllah. as for mummy she is complaining for pain in eye i guess her eye number needs some alterations so the idea is to take her to take her to an optical shop and get her work done.
4. Animals- being rude, i am not fond of any kind of animals but they have their rights and will speak on the day of judgement so i am now loving them all for the sake of Allah. the state i live in u can find them in every lane and street so feeding them on my way to
